This decision introduces a notable change: applicants will be permitted to submit&nbsp;<strong>color or grayscale drawings<\/strong>&nbsp;in European patent applications, provided they are filed electronically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">What exactly is changing?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until now, drawings had to be submitted in black and white. Although color versions could be uploaded, they were automatically converted to grayscale for storage and publication. Starting in October, drawings will retain their original color, as long as they meet the following technical requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Durable, uniformly thick, and clearly defined lines, strokes, or areas<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sufficient contrast<\/strong>\u00a0to ensure legibility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Minimum resolution of 300 dpi<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This update is not yet reflected in the current&nbsp;<strong>Guidelines for Examination<\/strong>, which still refer to the previous 2022 decision.
